The Technochrom® C1-INH kit is a chromogenic C1 Esterase Inhibitor Assay.
For research use in hereditary angioedema (HAE). The C1-esterase inhibitor (C1-INH) is a regulatory protein that functions as an inhibitor of several serine proteases in the complement system, the kallikrein-kinin system, the coagulation cascade and in fibrinolysis.
For fully automated, bar-coded reagents, please see the Ceveron® C1-INH Assay (5345005) for use on the Ceveron® s100 analyzer.

C1-inh is titrated against an excess of C1-esterase to form an inhibitory complex, and the residual C1-esterase activity is measured using a chromogenic substrate.

The C1 esterase inhibitor protein is a normal constituent of serum which functions as a serine proteinase inhibitor of the serpin family.
The C1 esterase inhibitor inhibits the complement proteases C1r and C1s, as well as the proteases Kallikrein, factor XIa, XIIa and plasmin of the blood clotting system.
