Chromogenix Antithrombin 10IU is for the determination of Heparin in plasma. Antithrombin in conjunction with heparine like substances is a potent inhibitor of thrombin, factor Xa, factor Xla and factor lXa. Antithrombin is prepared from human plasma and purified by affinity chromatography with an Heparine Sepharose gel according to the protocol of Miller-Andersson et al. (Thromb. Res. 5, 439-452, 1974).

For laboratory use only.

Lyophilized powder prepared from human plasma after affinity chromatography on heparin-Sepharose gel. Contains human albumin as a stabilizer.

Lyophilized human Antithrombin 10 lU ± 1
Albumin 12 mg
Sodium Chloride 9 mg

The lyophilized powder is stable at 2-8°C until the expiry date printed on the label. The reconstituted Antithrombin is stable for 1 month at 2-8°C or 6 months at -20°C when used for the determination of Heparin, according to the test conditions of Chromogenix Coatest® Heparin.

Specific Activity: Above 6 IU/mg Antithrombin.

Note: This preparation is not a standard.

What is the conversion factor for Antithrombin from IU to mg?

5 IU corresponds to 1 mg. Therefore a 25 IU vial corresponds to 5 mg AT. The molecular weight of AT is 58 kDa.

Enzyme Activity Determination

Chromogenix antithrombin can be used for anti-FXa chromogenic assays where addition of exogenous antithrombin is desired.
The activity of FXa can be measured using the following chromogenic substrates:

  • Chromogenix® S-2222™, 25 mg vial, catalog # S820316 (82031639)
  • Chromogenix® S-2765™, 25 mg vial, catalog # S821413 (82141339)
