Multiplate® ASA Control is a reagent kit containing aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid, ASA) at 30 mg/mL to be used as a quality control material in platelet aggregation studies with the Multiplate® analyzer.
Acetylsalicylic acid produces an antiplatelet effect by inhibiting the production of thromboxane, which under normal circumstances promotes platelet binding to each other and the injury site of the damaged walls of blood vessels.
Reagents, Storage and Stability
- MP0170: Multiplate® ASA Control reagent, Kit, acetylsalicylic acid, 1 x 1.0 mL, lyophilized (30 mg/mL), with 5 micro test tubes for aliquotation.
Also available
- MP0097: Multiplate® ASA Control Aliquot Vials, Bag, 100 micro tubes color coded (0range) for aliquotation.
- MP0270: Multiplate® ASA Control reagent, Kit, acetylsalicylic acid, 3 x 1.0 mL, lyophilized (30 mg/mL), without micro test tubes for aliquotation. Unopened vials of ASA Control reagent must be stored at 2-8°C. The reagent is stable until the expiry date printed on the vial label when stored under these conditions. If reconstituted reagent is not aliquoted into micro test tubes, the original vial should be stored in an upright position. Stable for 7 days after reconstitution when stored at 2-8°C, 4 weeks at < -20°C, or 24 hours at room temperature after one time thawing.
- MP0510: Multiplate® ASA Control reagent, Kit, acetylsalicylic acid, 1 x 1.0 mL, lyophilized (30 mg/mL), without micro test tubes for aliquotation.
Addition of ASA Control to blood samples leads to reduced aggregation in the ASPItest and the COLtest. Upon addition to the blood sample, the platelet cyclooxygenase pathway is blocked and the cyclooxygenase-dependent Multiplate tests, ASPItest and COLtest are inhibited. This allows the assessment of an abnormal response in these tests.
