Mucus throughout the lung and airway can provide insight into immune responses to different insults. Join DiaPharma and Dr. Neil Alexis on Wednesday, July 12 at 11 AM EDT to learn about sputum and nELF sampling methods and the value that can be gleamed from analyzing biomarkers in these fluids (or not so fluid if you are doing it right!).

Neil Alexis, PhD., Professor, Dept. of Pediatrics, Division of Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology at UNC Chapel Hill’s Center for Environmental Medicine, Asthma and Lung Biology (CEMALB)

About the Speaker: Dr. Alexis’s research is focused on examining the underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms of pulmonary diseases such as asthma, COPD and CF. Specifically, he is interested in the immune response in the airways using induced sputum as a primary sampling tool for measuring cellular, biochemical and genetic outcomes in the airways of human subjects. Dr. Alexis also supervises a biorepository of over 750,000 human biospecimens that supports CEMALB investigators, UNC collaborators, industry sponsors, and external investigators.
