Technoclot® DTI is a research clotting assay kit for quantitative determination of direct thrombin inhibitors (DTI) like dabigatran and argatroban in human citrated plasma. Technoclot® DTI is based on a modified Thrombin Time determination. The diluted sample is mixed with normal plasma and clotting is initiated by the addition of a defined amount of thrombin reagent. The measured clotting times are proportional to inhibitor concentrations and can be directly read off a calibrator specific calibration curves.

For measuring DTIs in plasma, in a first step the diluted sample is mixed with normal human plasma reagent R1. Clotting is then initiated by adding the thrombin reagent R2. The clotting time measured is directly related to the concentration of the assayed DTI in the sample plasma.

Dabigatran is the active substance in Pradaxa® which is a registered trade mark of Boehringer Ingelheim.
